Deployment Day Eight: A Visual Countdown!

The last two deployments our children were much younger but I have always found it helpful and important for the children to have a visual method to count down the days till Daddy comes home. We have used the paper chain the last two times and the children wanted to make a paper chain again. This visual method is something everyone helped make, can connect with, and love tearing off a piece each day! It is so exciting to see the chain get smaller and smaller! Here are some pictures of our chain that now adorns our dining room with festive colors.

The children enjoyed the time it took to cut all the strips of paper, connect them, count them to make sure we had 365+, and hang them in a place we can see it every day. We have a little over a year because until we know the BOG or boots on the ground date the year has not begun. Let the tearing of chain links begin :-)

Just for fun a picture from our last deployment : ) See how small it gets! We were so close and so excited at this point. This was taken in our home in Germany.
